I received an article this week via email from the media officer at Clubs NSW which was really interesting that indicated the following:

“LOCAL CENTRAL WEST CLUBS HELP YOU LIVE LONGER”

Being a member of your local Central West club is the key to living longer according to a new study from theUniversityofQueensland.

The research reveals that the more social groups an individual belongs to in the first few years of their retirement, such as those within their local club, the lower the risk of death.

Retirees who had more club memberships following their transition to retirement also had better quality of life and health.

So while you digest that and I can vouch for it as we have lots of happy, healthy players here. INCLUDING As well as on Mondays each week we now have our croquet ladies up and running so if your up for it and want to have a some great fun why not contact Chel Gregory or Sue Knowles or the club 68451973. The Ladies all seem to be having a “Ball”through the hoop of a time, so if your interested its starts at 9:00am ona Monday just morning turn up and they’ll make you very welcome its cheap mornings exercise with some social interaction included.

The A Grade Singles was a bust last Saturday the boys didn’t aim up. IT’S on this Sunday at 1 O’clock so if you want to see a great game of bowls played by two of the Clubs very best Bowlers well this game for you to watch it should be a real cracker. Both boys are in fine form. What a fantastic turnout on Saturday afternoon for the Ladies with our new lady bowlers playing in there first event Well done ladies.

On Saturday we have the first Round of the Zone 6 Pennant Play off being played at our Club at 1 O’clock. Between OrangeCity- Gulgong Bowling Club I can’t give you a run down on the teams as we don’t know the sides. If past years are any guide Gulgong will have a very strong side in and will take some tossing.

The Club will be opened at 12 noon on both days over the weekend.

The Men’s Pairs and Triples nominations are on the board so Please get your teams nominated and on the board as soon as possible as we won’t be waiting around to get these events off the ground.

This week also there will be a nomination sheet on the board Wednesday for the B grade singles.
