NATURAL resource management issues of the Fullerton/Hadley region were taken to NSW Parliament House last week as Simon Rowe (Dep Chair Fullerton Hadley Landcare) attended ‘Trees in the House’.

On May 10 Landcare leaders gathered at Parliament House at the ‘Trees in the House’ function hosted by the cross-party NSW Parliamentary Friends of Landcare to discuss the important work Landcare does for the benefit of agriculture, conservation and local communities.

The event was held in partnership with Landcare NSW.

Simon said, “The opportunity to provide exposure to so many influential politicians and departmental staff around our local group’s efforts was great.

“If you are a politician and not in touch with what your local Landcare community do I’d encourage you to find out”.

The Minister for Agriculture Hon. Niall Blair MLC informed the Legislative Council how pleasing it was to see the Local Landcare Coordinator program progressing well as it renews the government-community relationship and unlocks the full potential of the thousands of volunteers in the Landcare network.

Recently appointed Landcare Coordinator positions, funded under the NSW Government’s $15m Landcare Policy 2015-2019, have been a catalyst for renewed activity – leveraging additional funding and bringing volunteers back into Landcare.

The strengthened network of Local Landcare Coordinators is able to respond to local priorities as well as state policies, grant programs and partnership opportunities.

For example, the recently released biodiversity reforms mean Government must engage with the private landholders who are responsible for more than 70 percent of land in NSW.

Landcare has the on ground networks and connections.

The Government’s Landcare policy 2015-2019 is being delivered through a partnership between Landcare NSW and Local Land Services.

The NSW Parliamentary Friends of Landcare (PFL) is a cross-party group of NSW Members of Parliament who have a common interest in demonstrating support for the goals of Landcare.

The Fullerton Hadley Landcare area contains 80 landholders of which 70% reside outside of the district. Fullertonhadleylancare.org419论坛 New members welcome. [email protected]论坛
