Crows, Lions clash in Mallee match of round

PEAKE hosts Border Downs-Tintinara in round five of Mallee football.

Peake had a solid performance against Pinnaroo last week but fell just short in the last quarter. Sam ‘Dukes’ Braidwood stands tall every week and kicked four goals, Daniel Wilson played his best game for the season so far, Alistair Mills and Jake Niven were good all day. Player coach Matt Whitford was missing with his injury and might have been the difference.BDT were strong again showing that they are in previous year’s form and that is concern for the other teams. Josh Richo, Josh Keller and Lachie Richardson lead from the front with 10 goals between them, while Clint Richardson has leather poisoning –it isgood to see him obviously enjoying his footy. Josh Richardson, Kael Harkness and Jarrad Brock were solid for the Crows. This will be an interesting encounter and I think if Peake are missing Coach Matt Whitford, BDT might get the edge on the Lions and take the points.

Karoonda vPinnarooKaroonda came up against an in form Lameroo last week and got handed a bad loss. Zack Bullard has been in good form over the past few weeks also kicking a couple of goals, the big feller Nick Zander and Steven Drew were amongst it all day. Jarrad Woodward contributed with a couple and seems to be a focal point up forward.Pinnaroo stood up well in a tight encounter with Peake last week. It really did go down to the 2nd half of the last quarter before Pinnaroo took charge of the game. Chris Shawcross was instrumental all day showing his mobility around the ground for a big man. Micah Vanloon was also good. Ryan Nicholls was strong in front of goal bagging five.I also thought Alex Keough was good in the last quarter moving the ball into their forward 50 numerous times giving their forwards first look in a crucial time of the game.

I think Pinnaroo will have another solid win at Karoonda.

Murrayville vLamerooMurrayville met the BDT powerhouse last week and really didn’t get going, Ryan Lewis has been in ripper form over the last few weeks, while Sam Mader and Josh Graetz played hard for the Dogs. Gun forward Daniel Fry is continuing to contribute on the scoreboard with another five-goal haul.Lameroo had a plethora of goal kickers last week and leading the way was Benny Greiger with five, Fraser Sampson and Jayden Barrett with threea piece. Jayden Barrett, Ben Woodall and Ben Greiger continue to show good form for the Hawks.

I think Lameroo are going to continue their strong performances and win well.
