Creative start to eisteddfodvideo

Onegroup of grade four Timboon P-12 School students recited Minecraft Mikeand Don’t Think About A Zebrato a captivated audience.

Warrnambool Mayor Kylie Gaston, who attended the opening, said the event provided a fantastic opportunity for students to learn the disciplines of speech and performance.

“This will hold them in great stead as they move forward in whatever career they may choose or whichever direction their life goes in,” she said.

This year it’sthe 42ndtime the event has been held, and up to 7000 students will perform over 40 days of competition.

Students will compete across eight disciplines including music, dance, speech, calisthenics and debating.

Eisteddfod Society president Daffydd Wiesner-Ellix has been involved in the event for two years.

He has a background in music and performed in his first eisteddfod aged 17.

Grade four Timboon P-12 School students recited ‘Minecraft Mike’ at the Eisteddfod launch. “These kids get the opportunity to hone their skills in an area which may well be their gift or their talent,” MR Wiesner-Ellix said.
