Bleeding on brain after home attack

A 39-year-old man had brain surgery last weekafter he was attacked in his home at Warwick Farm.

Police were called to the corner of Forbes Street and Hume Highway at about 9.40pm on Saturday, May 7after receiving a report of two menfighting.

Police said the 39-year-old man, who hadbruising to his face, initially refused to provide details of the incident to officers.

While in custody theman’s health deteriorated and hetold police officers his version of the incident.

The man was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he underwent brain surgery due to bleeding on the brain.

He was in intensive care in a critical conditionfor a short period and now remains in hospital in a stable condition.

An investigationinto the alleged assault revealedthe attacker was known to the victim.

Police allege the victim was asleep at home when a man entered the home and violently assaulted the victim by punching and kicking him in the head.

He managed to escape the home and ran towards a nearby service station.

The attacker continued to kick and punch the victim in the head as he made his way to the safety of the service station.

A 43-year-old Villawood man handed himself into Liverpool Police Station on Thursday, May 12.

He waslater charged with causinggrievous bodily harm and aggravated entering a dwelling with intent.

He appeared at Liverpool Local Court on Friday.

He will appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday, June 6.
